Led by Kixi-Taka, this warband of Seraphon specializes in hit-and-run tactics and cunning ambushes. With the ability to teleport across the battlefield and strike from unexpected angles, they excel at controlling objectives and disrupting enemy forces while remaining elusive and difficult to pin down, making them a challenging opponent to face for those unprepared for their swift and unpredictable nature.

Positioning

  • If you win the initial roll-off, you generally want to elect to start with 3 objectives

  • Pick a board that allows you to place all three objectives in your territory in either a v-formation or delta (triangle) formation. This will make it easier for you to inspire and score your objectives

  • The Starbloods have a low wound charateristic and will generally die fast. Set up more defensively to avoid being overrun

  • You can use the Skittish reaction to push onto objectives and inspire more quickly. Take advantage of this during fighter placement by positioning Huachi, Xepic, and/or Tok in starting hexes that are in front of objectives

  • Kixi-Taka should be placed in the middle of the board due to the Herald of the Old Ones upgrade, which allows skinks within 3 hexes of him (including himself) to re-roll a defensive dice. Additionally, this should put him in range of multiple objectives to use his special Action on

  • If there's an enemy objective token within 3 hexes of a starting hex and you're holding the Astromatrix Alignment surge, consider placing Kixi-Taka there to use his Action to flip the token and immediately score glory. Kixi-Taka has one of your better defensive profiles and should be able to soak up an attack or two if needed

  • Klaq-Trok is your best fighter and it's important he survives until at least round 2. Place him in the middle of the board to protect him from early charges, but where he's in range to punish any enemies that enter your territory to disturb your inspiration condition

General tips

  • Ideally you want to save Klaq-Trok's first charge until the 3rd or 4th activation of the first round. This gives you the chance to put some upgrades on him first to increase his accuracy and improve the odds of him inspiring through a successful attack. Once inspired, he gains an extra defensive dice and will be much harder to kill

  • Otapatl's attack action has the unique property of hitting on crits. You can drastically increase the odds of this attack landing by giving him supports. His attack has both Cleave and Ensnare so any successful rolls are almost guaranteed to result in a successful attack

  • You can use the Lords of Space and Time ploy to teleport onto an objective in enemy territory. Use this at the end of the round to surprise your opponent and score some of your objectives. With a defensive profile of 3 dodge, Otapatl is a great candidate for this teleport. Your opponent will have to make the difficult decision of spending activations attacking a 3 dodge fighter vs ignoring him and you potentially scoring more objectives or immobiling enemy fighters with Otapatl's Dartpipe

Paths of Prophecy Nemesis Pairing

  • This is a great pairing for the Starbloods due to its complementary nature. It rewards them for holding objects and provides some extra pushes to get onto them

  • Most importantly though, it comes with some easy to score surges as well as Dual and Hybrid type objectives. This is critical for your ability to score The Great Plan in the end phase for 3 glory

  • The Deadly Defiance upgrade is a great card on Klaq-Trok because it allows you to continuously push him and potentially get 2-3 attacks off in a single round
