Led by Cyreni of the Abyss, the warband includes Renglaith and Alathyrr, supported by Cephanyr, a formidable Spirit Guardian. They adeptly utilize Scatter tokens to unleash potent spells from afar, gaining tactical advantages in battles. Their resilience, marked by a high wound characteristic, makes them formidable opponents that are difficult to defeat on the treacherous terrain of the Underworlds.

Positioning

  • Due to Cyreni's Hammertide ability, board placement and positioning is critical for this warband. Long-boarding your opponent is considered their strongest setup because it makes it really easy for you to land Hammertide while your opponent tries to close the distance to you

  • Place Cyreni in a starting hex towards the back of your board but in a direct line from multiple enemy starting hexes. This allows you to immediately put pressure on your opponent with Hammertide and makes it hard for him to avoid getting pinged

  • Despite their 1 dodge defense characteristic, Cephanyr is commonly placed further up the board due to the Phase Ink reaction which allows you to stagger your opponent and reposition even if the opponent's attack failed

  • Renglaith and Alathyrr die relatively easily, but can punish anyone invading your territory. Place them closer to the middle of the board

General tips

  • The Momentary Vortex spell is a great card to reposition an enemy fighter and put them in harm's way of a Hammertide ping

  • Your second most valuable fighter will change from game to game depending on your opposing warband. Does the warband mostly defend on dodge? Then Cephanyr will be the star of the show with Ensnare. Defend on blocks or you're facing a horde? You can rely on Alathyrr with Cleave and Scything. Facing bulky fighters? Renglaith brings Grievous to the table. Determine who will be the most valuable to you before the game starts and play accordingly

  • Cephanyr's Phase Ink ability is a great tool to stagger opponents and move onto objectives. Both will help you score objectives

  • Objectives like Lost without Trace and Nameless Horrors reward you for playing more defensively and letting your opponent come to you

  • Mind Erosion and Snuff Out are both easily scored due to Hammertide

Rimewyrm's Bite Nemesis Pairing

  • Cyreni's Razors pair exceptionally well with this deck. It further rewards you for playing more defensively, provides you extra pings, and makes it a nightmare for enemies to try and close the distance to your warband

  • Take a board with a lethal hex near the front to make it harder for opponents to move into your territory

  • Cards such as Unstable Footing, Earth-shattering Tread, Brief Emergence, Puncturing Ice Shards, and Deadly Wards can further slow your opponent's advances

  • Hammertide makes it relatively easy for you to score both Never Punished and Blood-soaked Ice for a combined 4 glory
